Earphones in — listening to the crooning of heartbroken artists/pouring their souls into a pool of flurrying turmoil. Beyond the veil, your dead body lingers in my mind's eye. Rock salt rubbed into your skin for when you are charred and become an ashy reduction. Ashes Ashes We All Fall Down. Down by the Japanese sea, The zen burial that you desired. The bleared cardinal glow of the evening cafe/pockets full of Mochi. The sound of laughter and joy/celebrating this year's ending. The bittersweet sound of the midnight chime punches my lungs/knocking me to the ground to mourn your passing over and over again. Candied pink stop lights blinking — just like the way I batted my eyelashes. A gemstone in my hand, cleared of bad vibes/dragons’ blood incense rearranging my hair follicles. The ariose nature of your voice sticks with a permanence to my tender temporal lobe/the aroma is sticky and cotton candy-esque. In your untimely death, an essay is forever written on my soul to be signed and dotted with an Aurelian star.
