The cold pedestal, dark-gray granite – struck her back to reality. After actions that scathed, and words that burned, the midnight sky shelters her courage. The woman she is finally becoming – is able to tell her fear from her fury.


Poet's bio: Suryatapa Ghosh was born and raised in India and emigrated to the USA in 2008. She is a cell biologist, currently working in California. She started writing poems while in college – and the experience since, although full of extensive trials and errors, also always gave her immense joy. She is also a passionate reader of poems. Works of Rabindranath Tagore, Sunil Ganguly, Pablo Neruda, Emily Dickinson, Charles Bukowski, and Mary Oliver have influenced her immensely.
